Origins
It started with a thesis
Techie Club began as a master's thesis at NYU's IMA Low Res program with a clear provocation: creative technology doesn't have to feel intimidating. It can be playful. It can be welcoming. It can meet people where they are โ with soft tones, warmth, and a sense of entertainment โ and still be genuinely powerful.
That thesis became a living project. Techie Club is now growing into a family of sub-clubs, each focused on a different frontier of creative technology. The first one is ours.

The Club
Spatial Design Club
Spatial Design Club is the first sub-club of Techie Club โ and its founding members are a group of BFA students at the School of Visual Arts, Spring 2026. That's us.
We're building a creative tool that makes AR and VR content creation available to artists, designers, and creative-tech-curious people โ with an artistic point of view. Not for engineers who already know Blender. Not for gamers optimizing frame rates. For the people who create with their hands, who think spatially, who would thrive in immersive space if only the tools would get out of their way.
“When you create in XR, you use your whole body. That makes so much more sense for the creative process โ especially for artists who are used to making things in the physical world.”
Creating in space
Art lives in the body
Mission
Art platform first
There are plenty of tools for making games. That isn't what this is. Spatial Design Club exists for one reason: to give creative people a space to express themselves using immersive technology โ without asking them to become engineers first.
Most tools like ours either pivot to gaming or disappear. Our difference? We're not trying to make a ton of money. We're a club, not a corporation. We're trying to create something that matters to the people who use it.

Audience
For the Artists
Our audience isn't the people already deep in the XR ecosystem. It's the ones standing outside it โ artists who are curious about spatial creation but find the existing tools overwhelming, technical, and cold. Designers who think in space but create on flat screens because that's all that's available to them.
We want the sculptor who's never touched Unity. The painter who wonders what it would feel like to walk inside their work. The designer who dreams in three dimensions but builds in two.

The Tool
Create beyond the screen
The Spatial Design Club tool is a creative platform for making art and design in augmented and virtual reality. Draw paths in mid-air. Sculpt with materials that respond to light. Walk all the way around your work. Share a space with other creators in real time.
It's not finished โ and that's the point. As founding members, we're not just using the tool. We're designing it. Every profile, every interface, every onboarding moment is being shaped by this team.

Launch Party 🎉
This isn't a class presentation. It's a product launch. On April 30th, we're opening the doors to the Spatial Design Club tool and inviting people to step inside โ through VR headsets, through immersive desktop, through AR.
Guests will experience the tool we've been building. They'll see our Diary of a Spatial Design Club pieces. They'll meet the founding members. And they'll get to create โ because that's what this platform is for.
